BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE THROWING

Tuesdays, March 29 – May 17
Time: 6 – 8:30 p.m.
Instructor: Bonnie Richter
Cost: $300

This class is for anyone that wants to learn to throw on the potter’s wheel and those that want to improve their throwing skills. You’ll begin with wedging and throwing the basic bowl and cup shape. Our focus will be on centering, pulling up and creating even walls. Everyone will work at their own pace to progress to more advanced forms and handles. You’ll learn how to trim your work and finally, glaze your pieces for their final firing in our electric kilns.

ADVANCED POTTERY: THROWING TALL

Wednesdays: March 30 through May 18, Eight Weeks

Time: 6 – 8:30 p.m.

Cost: $350

Instuctor: Barbara Reeley

Tall Pots 1

This class will be a concentration on throwing tall vessels. We will use several techniques to pull up even walls and both collar the necks & rims and bellow out the shoulders. You’ll choose from vase, tumbler, pitcher, covered jar and bottle forms.

Find the confidence to pull taller, more robust pots.

We will be using cone 10 stoneware in our class and firing our work in Ellie ~ our gas kiln.

BASIC HANDBUILDING

Wednesdays, March 30, April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11 & 25

Time: 10:00 – 12:30

Instructor: Mary LaFleur

Cost: $300

Begin handbuilding classes by learning to pinch, coil and roll slabs. You will also learn to use texture and slips in your work. Also included will be “mastering the extruder”. Come join us for a delightful, fun-filled pottery class.

BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE HANDBUILDING

Thursdays, March 31 – May 19

Time: 6 – 8:30 p.m.

Handbuilttumblers

In this class you’ll learn different handbuilding techniques including coil, pinch and slab building and we’ll explore the many possibilities that clay offers. Using cone 6 stoneware, you’ll make mugs, bowls, trays and small garden sculpture. Working at your own pace you can progress to more complex forms as well as handles and lids. You’ll use texture and glazes to enhance the surface design of each piece.

ADVANCED HANDBUILDING

Tuesdays, March 29, April 5, 12, 19, 26, May 3, 10 & 24

Time: 10:00 – 12:30

In this class we will be making a variety of advanced forms which will include pit-fired lamp bases, garden art, functional pieces and carved boxes. The emphasis will be on surface design which includes both silk screening and the use of stencils.
